Dear Members,
The Government has launched a public consultation on the proposal for introducing the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) in Hong Kong. As the issue relates public service offer to Hong Kong citizens, also to you as a whole, your comments on the consultation paper will contribute to the right direction of provision of public service.
An Officer of the Hong Kong Fire Services attended the 4th Council meeting on 3.9.2009 to present the general concept of MPDS and invited comments from our members on the consultation document, in particular, the following focal questions ¡V
1. Do you agree that there is room for improvement in the existing ambulance dispatch system? 2. Do you agree that ambulance response should be prioritised in accordance with the degree of urgency of the calls? 3. Do you support the proposed response time targets and the performance pledge? 4. Do you consider it useful to receive post-dispatch advice before the arrival of ambulances? 5. Do you have any other views to improve the emergency ambulance services and to encourage the appropriate use of ambulance services?
Members may visit the official government website at http://www.sb.gov.hk/eng/pub/mpds/consultation.htm for the details of the MPDS. For your easy reference, a gist of MPDS is attached.
Members are encouraged to express their comments and views during the four-month consultation period starting from 3 July 2009 to:
