The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Fire Engineering programme was set up in 1991 in the United Kingdom by the University of Central Lancashire with the support of the Institution of Fire Engineers. The Institution of Fire Engineers (Hong Kong Branch) networked the programme to Hong Kong in 1993 to offer the opportunity for local people to further their studies in fire engineering.

The first batch of students graduated in 1997 and established this Hong Kong Fire Engineering Alumni Association in December that year to foster ties among past students and to promote professional recognition for members. In the past years, the Association has held various activities for its members ranging from social gatherings like dinners, to academic seminars.
